CLUBS WITH HEART – CLUB TRANSFORMATION SERIES. ONLINE ONLY
Times have changed and so have young people. This session is designed to assist coaches in the development and potential life success of the people they coach.
Through this session, coaches will gain an awareness that positive coaching based on relationships, authenticity, and understanding of individual differences, is far more effective than the authoritarian style that was once acceptable. Positive coaching has been proven to elicit greater motivation, resilience, enjoyment, and results for everyone involved.
This session will explore how coaches can deliver a strong message in the right way and how to deliver feedback based on process not outcomes. Coaches will discover a new way of coaching that makes the difference between a good team and an excellent team.
What is “Clubs with Heart”?
The ‘Clubs with Heart Program’ educates and empowers clubs and their people to fully understand their greater purpose.
While recognising that clubs will always aspire to be successful on the field/court/pool, great clubs know that they must also be truly inclusive, they must create authentic communities of care, they must have the courage to address and break down the barriers that have caused people to leave the sport or never venture in.
Clubs with Heart will become destination clubs, but even more importantly, they will attract, serve, and equip their wider communities and set them up to be successful in life.
What commitment from the club is required?
Those who participate will be given tasks to complete. Participants will receive a weekly online workbook and are expected to attend all sessions where possible.
Each club will be assigned a SALT mentor who will be available to answer questions and assist the club in the process of change.
Clubs in the program will be connected to other clubs so that they can support each other and collaborate.
SALT will advertise through social media and other formats exemplar clubs and the changes they have initiated.
Clubs who complete the series and complete the follow up tasks will receive official recognition and certification as a SALT Club with Heart.
What will we learn?
Session 1: Creating the Story
Where has our club come from and where is it heading? The questions we need to be asking. The story that others tell about us and the story we want them to tell.
Session 2: Overcoming the Barriers
What are the barriers that are blocking our progress? The standard we walk past. Blind spots and unconscious bias. Addressing the barriers positively and collectively.
Session 3: Building the Structures We Need
The roles we need to fill, the people available to us, and the skills and traits we are looking for. Finding the right people, placing them in the right positions, and empowering them to be successful. What will we learn?
Session 4: Building the Leaders We Need
Identifying and preparing everyone in the club to positively lead. Framing, equipping, rehearsing, reflecting. Emotional bank accounts, the vulnerability loop, and effective feedback.
Session 5: Building the Behaviours We Need
Creating the behavioural expectations that reflect our club’s values and then holding ourselves and each other accountable to live these out consistently.
Session 6: Building Competitive Greatness
Confidence, conditioning, skill development, team spirit, initiative, passion, communication. These attributes bring success but there are key building blocks that must come first.
