Thanks to Mawsons Concrete and Quarries we were able to work with 40 clubs in Regional Victoria in regard to Mental Health, Positive Sports Parenting and Positive Coaching.

SALT have recently completed the Mawson’s funded Mental Health and Wellbeing project across country Victoria. The funding allowed 31 clubs to receive a Mental Health and Wellbeing session within their club as well as access to 6 online Positive Parenting and Coaching facilitated sessions.
Dave and Scott covered many parts of the State, from Tyntynder to Katunga, Barnawartha to Leitchville Gunbower, Congupna to Swan Hill, Koondrook Barham to Jerilderie, and Yackandandah to Wahgunyah.
Some highlights were presenting to the Murray Felines FC who currently have 70 girls playing at the club. Also interesting was the amalgamated side of Leitchville Gunbower FNC. The club plays half their home games at Leitchville, then pack everything up and move the 10km’s down the road to play their remaining home games at Gunbower!
Once again, we are extremely appreciative of John Mawson and the team at Mawson’s Concrete and Quarries for their generous support and the impact it has on the mental health of our neighbouring rural communities. Thanks again to all the Mawson’s employees who gave up their time to come along and involve themselves in the sessions. It raised great awareness of the impact sessions like this can have.
Scott visited the Wahgunyah FNC as part of the Mawson’s Wellbeing and Mental Health initiative. Wahgunyah recently lost by a record breaking 431 points in Round 5 against Beechworth in the Tallangatta FNL after 16 players were ruled out due to Covid. Scott wasn’t the only high-profile person to visit the club after Mick Malthouse took training and held a fundraising event the previous Thursday. What was evident was the community focus of the club and keeping things positive both on and off the ground. The club President, Darryl Hore spoke on 3AW recently.
Scott did remind the club that back in 1999, whilst playing for Jerilderie they defeated Wahgunyah in the Coreen League Grand Final by 13 points after trailing at half time by 59 points. It was still a sore point apparently. This has not been the first club Scott has stirred up about defeating in Grand Finals having a similar story at the Tocumwal FNC.
