One of the other developing dynamics in the life of SALT is the increasing amount of work we are getting from partner organisations. Often now, we will partner with larger organisations to deliver more bespoke and collaborative workshops.

Some of these projects include:

The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation (VRGF). Through the VRGF we are very privileged to address some of the young elite athletes such as AFL Next Generation Academies or junior elite soccer teams such as the Melbourne Victory Under 18 teams. (pictured below)

We are very privileged to work with clubs far and wide in country Victoria like Nullawil, Drung and Laharum, we have also recently been involved with the Sports Coaching and Development students and the Elite Sport Business Class at the Carlton College of Sport, as well as addressing the selected leaders of clubs in the Yarra Junior Football League in a leadership session hosted by the Collingwood Football Club. It was wonderful to have a few players drop in to be interviewed and we were totally impressed by their maturity and values driven approach to their sport. Some of you might recognise the young man below.

GE3 Gender Equity Project

SALT is collaborating with the City of Whittlesea in a gender equity initiative titled GE3. GE3 will engage with the Whittlesea City Basketball Association to purposefully provide healthy, safe and equitable environments that provide positive outcomes for all.

Over the next year, SALT will be running sessions on topics such as Health and Wellbeing, Equality is the Game and Healthy Masculinities. The content will explore the pressures from society about what it means to be a ‘real’ man and how these impact the health and wellbeing of men and boys, and how these rigid stereotypes contribute to violence against women, men and oneself. The sessions will also look at gendered stereo types and how they impact people in sport and look for opportunities to remove all that limit access, opportunity, or growth of any individual within basketball.

Indigo Shire Project

In 2023, SALT have continued to support clubs in the Indigo Shire under the partnership developed in 2022. In 2022, we delivered the Wellbeing and Mental Health sessions into 7 clubs within the region. This year, SALT have again engaged with clubs who have participated in the Clubs with Heart series as well as Club Wellbeing Team training and Equality is the Game sessions.

Bendigo Bank Regional Funding

Bendigo Bank have continued their fantastic support of regional based clubs and have committed to a second round of 10k funding. So far, we have delivered the Mental Health and Wellbeing session into the Wangaratta City Colts CC, Tatura FNC, Trentham and Woodend Hesket FNC, Maldon FNC, Castlemaine FNC, Buninyong FNC and Mansfield FNC. We have also delivered a Leadership/Wellbeing session for the Alpine Cycling Club.

We as a Club, cannot thank Scott enough for his ability to engage the entire crowd, make so many individuals feel comfortable to open up in front of their friends and teammates, and genuinely care for everyone present on the night. Scott has a gift and a natural gentle way of getting vital mental health related messages across to all of those in his presence. What every individual walked away with after Thursday night will vary, but one thing is for certain, at some point, Scott was able to obtain every single person’s attention and get them to begin to think about not only their own personal mental health, but those around them. Scott was brilliant, we cannot praise him enough and we as a Club would be only too happy to be contacted by any other Clubs around the region that are wanting to hear about the benefits of such a session. Thank you Scott and thank you Mawson’s for funding such a phenomenal and moving session! We look forward to continuing to work with you in the future. Freemasons Foundation Funding

The Freemasons do a huge amount of philanthropic support in our community. We are so grateful to them for their funding of our most recent Clubs with Heart Program. Recently we had the honour of meeting with Rod, Neil and Phillip and hearing about the work they do.
