SALT response to use of inappropriate slide in presentation

We would like to issue an unreserved apology for using a highly inappropriate slide at a recent presentation on gambling.

The presentation included a slide we thought had been removed but which was not removed from one presenters slidedeck. It showed an image of Hitler and suggested that he used his position of power for evil purposes.

‘It was ill-considered, inappropriate and we apologise unreservedly that it was not deleted from the presentation and for any understandable hurt or offence the image caused,’ said Peter Burns, CEO of Sport and Life Training.

‘We are in the process of reaching out to those who attended the session as well as our stakeholders to offer our sincerest apologies.

‘As an organisation focused on social inclusion, providing mental health support, and helping people in sports club to be the best they can be, we entirely reject any notions of bigotry, hatred, and racism, including anti-Semitism,’ said Mr. Burns.

We will continue to look at ways we can help serve the community, particularly those that are going through mental health and addiction crisis and tightening up our internal review process to ensure our collateral does not include content which is offensive and hurtful.

Once again, we apologise unreservedly and sincerely to those impacted and offer them our support, or alternatively people may wish to reach out to Beyond Blue or other mental health services.
